For doctors

A patient would like to record their conversation with you so they can read it again later, at their own pace. This page tells you in one minute what that means.

What is recorded

Only the audio of this conversation. The patient starts and stops the recording; doctormic never records on its own.

What is not stored

Service providers transcribe the recording for us and turn it into the summary. No audio is kept on our servers.

The transcript is deleted from our servers as soon as the summary is ready. If no summary is produced, it is deleted there by itself after about 30 minutes.

The patient can delete the summary and all of their data at any time.

How consent works

The patient asks you before recording. To do so, they show you a card in the app with the main points of this page.

You can say no. Then nothing is recorded.

By starting the recording, the patient confirms that everyone present has agreed.

What the patient gets

A written summary for themselves that they can understand: the main points, medications mentioned and next steps. It only reflects what was said in the conversation.

Only the patient sees the summary, and anyone they choose to share it with. They can delete it at any time.

Its sole purpose is to help patients remember and understand a conversation that has already taken place with their healthcare professional. It is a memory and comprehension aid, not a source of medical advice.

doctormic's intended purpose

What you do not have to do

Nothing. You need no account and no app, and your practice has nothing to set up.

The summary is the patient's own document, like their own notes. They may show it to you if they wish.

A version for practices is currently being piloted with a first few practices.
